Amy was a popular trainer in Unova for her collection of various rare Pokémon which brought the attention of trainers who wanted to battle them and it also brought the attention of collectors or pokemaniacs who wanted to see such Pokémon up close.
She claimed to love all her Pokémon equally though sometimes she did show favoritism unintentionally. Such as with her super cute azumarill or dashing & cool Gabite as well as her extraordinary shiny woobat. It was never on purpose as she’d never want any of her Pokémon feeling like she liked some better than others.
One Pokémon however tended to have an issue even when she brought up she had no favorite and that Pokémon was her powerful Magmortar which she had raised since it hatched as a Magby from an egg she was given by a friend from Johto.
Magmortar's behavior had gotten worse over time especially whenever she caught new Pokémon. Amy knew of it’s jealousy and tried to reassure it but it didn’t ever work for long and at this point she was considering trying to ask for help from someone as her Magmortar jealousy wasn’t just effecting her but her battles as well.
Just this morning when she wanted to use her Woobat in battle against a Pokémon Ranger the Magmortar forced its way out of its pokeball and into the battle before she could call on the small bat Pokémon. It was painfully awkward having to explain why your fully grown Magmortar refused to go back into its ball and was acting childish.
Amy needed a break after that and so she sought out that break in the form of the Virbank Complex after hearing of it being a good hangout spot for some trainers. However shortly upon arrival to the complex a wild Elekid caught her eye and she was no trainer to pass up an opportunity at catching a Pokémon she hadn’t seen before and especially one so cute.
All it took was the excellently aimed throw of a Quick Ball and she forgot about her earlier troubles and began fawning over her newly caught Elekid. Then again she has always been one to quickly move on from what bothered her if it wasn’t too major.
She didn’t even feel the heat radiating off of Magmortar's pokeball on her belt.
Later on in the evening she had set up camp outside of the complex with some of her Pokémon out of their pokeballs and enjoying the nice weather. However Magmortar wasn’t enjoying it and was harshly staring down Amy as she played with Elekid who seemed to adore the attention it was being given.
It felt angry.
It felt jealous.
It felt awful knowing that’s just how she treated it when it was still small and cute.
Did she no longer like it because it was big and mean? Was it scary?
It already had a problem with her other Pokémon taking her attention away and now she had the audacity to treat this Elekid like it was something special.
Thinking back on it…she probably evolved it so she’d have an excuse not to spend time with it. No favoritism? That was a lie. It had been lied to.
It now HATED Elekid if it didn’t before.
As the sun set and Amy began returning her Pokémon to their pokeballs she had noticed Magmortar was gone. She looked around a bit in confusion as Elekid curiously clung to her right leg.
“Magmortar! Magmortar! The sun is going down! Please, come back!” Amy called out sounding concerned. Some of her Pokémon did occasionally run off when she turned her back but they always came back or let out a cry to let her know they were still nearby.
Stepping forward a bit Amy suddenly shrieked as something rammed into her from behind and knocked her over followed by a horrific screech filling the air. She quickly looked up only to see Magmortar stepping on Elekid’s head as the small Pokémon struggled.
“Oh god—Magmortar! Stop!” She cried out and reached for the fire type Pokémon’s pokeball only to shriek and drop the ball as a small Flamethrower burnt her hand. Writhing in pain she watched in horror as Magmortar put all of its weight into what it was doing and CRACK—
Amy emptied the contents of her stomach onto the ground in front of her just moments after Elekid’s head was crushed beneath Magmortar.
This had to be a nightmare.
She never imagined her Pokémon’s behavior…no it’s jealousy would lead to something like this yet she could understand how this was most likely her fault. She didn’t even try to focus on Magmortar’s issues more and instead left it be thinking things would change.
Her eyes widened and she was brought of her thoughts as Magmortar pointed the cannons at the end of it’s arms right in her face.
If she couldn’t be with it more often. She wouldn’t get to be with any of her Pokémon.
MAGMORTAR USED FLAMETHROWER
Horrifying, blood curdling screams like the things of nightmares filled the air then came to a stop.
Magmortar’s Burning Jealousy was most definitely snuffed out now.
