Pokepasta Wiki

Anther decided to go back to his childhood and play a silly game, only to find out it was a hack. And oh boy it's a doozy.

AUTHOR'S INTRODUCTION[]

Before this whole thing begins, I want to introduce myself.

Hi. I'm Anther. 24 years of age. I want to learn how to code, but I'm kind of busy nowadays. This was written on one of my only off days, haha.

Oh, also, I am kind of a fan of hacked games. Cool story, possible new characters, all of that. Sometimes the true stories of certain games bore the hell out of me.

Pokèmon is no exception, either. I really like Pokèmon hacks, whether they be silly creepypastas or just... hacks. They kind of make me want to make them myself, but, well... busy. I work a lot away from home.

But, anyway, that sort of led me here.

PLAYING THE GAME[]

Okay, so, I'd downloaded a Pokèmon Black ROM n' a NDS Emulator to my PC a small while back. Only today I found the time to actually put it to use— I might as well, at least. Cousin said that if I don't use my PC anytime soon, they'll take it.

But anyway, I decided to play the silly thing. I mean, just a little game, right? I booted it up, expecting to see the usual movie. Gods, that movie is always so cool to me. I love the main characters portrayed in it. Heck, I like most of the Pokèmon characters a lot! ... Someone I knew didn't though. At least not as much. But that's fine.

Oh, sorry, I rambled a little there. Anyway, the game was really off when I started playing, though. I pressed 'new game', and it automatically took me to a room that you don't normally access in the beginning. It was big and was sort of like a kid's playroom. It had a trainset, a skateboard, a basketball and hoop, all of that. You can probably already guess where it sent me.

Yeah, N's room.

Okay, so call me biassed, but I love N. He's a really complex character— and arguably one of the best characters in the games... But that's beside the point. As soon as it happened, I knew this was a hack. But, I was already interested. Was this the game from N's perspective?

It started as a cutscene with N winding up a music box in the middle of his room, and once it started playing, he got up, and I was able to control him.

I like to interact with everything, usually, so I pressed 'X' on the music box.

"Your Music Box."

Okay, that was all the textbox said.

Oh, I should probably mention— N looks different here. I have a few sketches of what he looks like from when I first started playing. At the time I didn't get to any cutscenes or saw any official art, but I surprisingly got it accurate, so I'll share it here.

The N design!
The N design!

Excuse my poor handwriting. I'm usually in a rush. Oh, and, excuse that little doodle of myself, haha. I just really liked the design at the time.

Back to the game itself. I took N to his trainset.

"You don't want to play with it right now."

That was oddly depressing to read. What about the skateboard? The half-pipe?

"You just used that yesterday." "Maybe not now."

Wow. This is.. sad. But, N's generally a depressing character, so that should be expected. I finally interacted with the basketball and hoop.

"You used that already." "You should probably get that train out of the hoop."

Suddenly, the screen shook. Just a little bit.

"Oh, Father's calling." "He says he's leaving. You should go with."

I had N step out of the room, and suddenly the music stopped. When I walked, the footsteps were unbearably loud. I turned my volume down, but it didn't help much, so I just took my headphones off.

The footsteps sounded like heels clicking against a surface, which is why in the drawing I had him wear heels. Anyways, I had to navigate through the castle through the guidance of guards blocking entrances and the occasional "Not this way" messages, but I did manage to get to the entrance of the castle, where Ghetsis was.

Ugh, I hate Ghetsis. Everything about him doesn't sit right with me. But, this is N's perspective, so I guess I have to deal with it. Though, sometimes when I see Ghetsis in the true story I wanna just reach through the screen and sock him in the face.

Wow, that was.. really off topic. But back to this! I appearantly had to follow Ghetsis out of the castle and into a city... Uh, Accumula city, where Ghetsis did his public rally. Like usual, N would stand in the sidelines. The protagonist was appearantly Tōya this time. I normally would choose Tōko or something if it were up to me, but eh, I'm not too picky. Plus, I'm playing as N right now.

The entire ordeal of the speech, Cheren and Tōya talking, then N approaching happened. The battle plays, but, again, no music. Just the sounds of footsteps, pokèmon, and impact. It hurt my ears, and the stupid thing wouldn't let me turn the volume down.

Though, of course, N lost easily. But for some reason, when his Purrloin fainted, I heard a horrified, agonising scream. I winced, pulling my headphones away from my body as it played.

The screen blacked out, and the average cutscene played. I was later taken to the pokèmon centre. The purrloin was whimpering in pain.

I kinda felt bad, but eventually, I managed to heal it up.

I guess it was time to go back home.

Cool, then. I started making N go back to the castle.

He encountered wild Pokèmon, but every time, he immediately took me out of the battle.

"I don't want to battle my friends."

So, that was somewhat a waste. After several encounters similar, I managed to get N home.

A small cutscene played.

▪︎ "You're late."

▪︎ "Yes, I apologise."

▪︎ "Don't ever linger like that again."

▪︎ "I won't."

▪︎ "You better not. Those people will have terrible influence on you if you hang around them too long."

I felt my blood boil reading. It looks like harmless protectiveness, probably, but in the context of it being Ghetsis saying this... Augh, I hate it. N's sprite looked back at the entrance, then at Ghetsis.

▪︎ "Alright." ▪︎ "Go back to your room, N."

And that's what I did. I sent N to his room.

Immediately all of the noise was downplayed, heels against muffled carpet as the music box miraculously was still playing its tune. The volume turned itself down to a more bearable volume.

I had some time to interact with one thing before I could continue progressing with the story, so, I chose the trainset.

N's sprite sat down in front of the trainset.

"You played with the train. It made you feel better."

Reading that made me a little sad, knowing N's story. After a little bit, I had N get up. I didn't know what to do beyond this point. Does he, like, sleep?

The screen just faded out, so I guess that answered my question.

Most of my time was spent in N's room, mindlessly interacting with the never-changing surroundings. However, whenever the screen shook, I was able to leave, and the overbearing noises returned. It was so calm in N's room, it made me a little sad.

The usual stuff happened— you know, the gym shtick. In order to get Pokèmon on my team, I was given the option to talk to them, and that lowered their health[or in this case, their guard?]. If it was lowered enough, I could ask them to join my team. They almost always said yes.

This was what got them to level up, too— friendly talk. That was cool.

I did manage to get a bunch of gym badges through battle, but every time a pokèmon fainted I heard its screams. Oh, gods, the screams were so loud— and got louder each time.

Every battle, or, well, ones that had us fight, made me really uneasy. The screams, the lack of music, the violent ambiance. It was loud, it was horrible, and I didn't really like it.

But, I kept playing. I felt like I had to.

Tōya always beat me. I battled Cheren and Bianca once, and they wiped me out with ease. One of them recommended that I train with some girl named Tōko— the female protagonist, which implied they co‐existed in the same game, with Tōko as a mentor-type person. N had said he would, but instead never battled with her. The two just spoke and then left each other alone.

Everything about the game was starting to freak me out, but I pressed on. Come on, it was just a hack. Nothing too serious!

Though, my eyes were starting to hurt.

Eventually, I would make it to the end of the game, and I, obviously, got beat by Tōya in the final battle. But instead of the usual scolding, there was a more... detailed cutscene.

It was much like the movie, a more high quality kind of thing.

Tōko was in-scene. I realise just now that the conversation we had was actually incredibly important. She was there the entire time.

She was standing beside Tōya. They spoke. There was voice acting.

○ "There was always something off about him."

● "You're telling me."

○ "No, Tōya, you don't get it. There's something wrong."

● "What do you mean?"

○ "Ghetsis' son.."

Ghetsis came into scene.

You know the yelling that Ghetsis does, right? It hurt without voice acting. But with it? Man.

Everyone in the room was staring in shock.

But something was off.

N had started to shout at Ghetsis, too.

Things got quiet, awfully quiet. But I could have sworn I heard something in my headphones. ... Pokèmon ambiance? An aerodactyl. Yeah. I had to turn my volume all the way up to hear the aerodactyl cries.

Big mistake.

I was greeted, a whole minute after I turned my volume to the max, a loud smack. Like metal against skin. A baseball bat? A cane? Either way, it hurt my ears, and bad.

I flinched. The noise played again. My possibly-drying eyes were glued to the screen. All I saw were the horrified faces of everyone in that room— Alder, Cheren, Tōko and Tōya's. It zoomed out a little. I saw the scene they were looking at.

Every hit N endured got louder and impossibly louder still.

Eventually he collapses.

The game blacked out there.

But the game hadn't ended. I stared at my screen. N's limp body appeared again. It was alive, just... not, really there.

A text box appears.

□ "i suppose that's what happens when you bite the hand that feeds."

I felt sick. The entire gameplay made me want to tear my hair out.

□ "that is what you get. maybe this will teach you to just plug your ears and wait until everything ends."

Then everything faded to black. Nothing happened for a count of ten.

...

Wait.

Was my headset getting hotter?

AFTER PLAYING[]

On random, I got flash-banged. My PC was flashing black and white lights and it was playing all of the screams of every pokèmon I battled that fainted at an impossibly high volume. My headphones were getting unbearably hot now.

The sudden noise and light made my body physically respond. I could feel something tear in my eye. I could feel something rupture in my ears. I could feel something leaking out of both of my ears and out of my eye— my own gods-damned blood. I could feel my headset burning, threatening to melt into my skin if I didn't take them off at that moment. I could only hear the sounds of my monitor and PC popping and sparking and a terrible, terrible ringing in my ears as I threw my hands up to rip my headset off of me and practically throwing them across the room, pushing myself away from my desk in my chair, almost falling out of it.

I turned to my PC. Half of my vision was red and blotchy and I could barely see, but I knew my PC was broken. Wires erupted from its seams. There was a flashing image of.. something, on my monitor that only flickered a few times before it shut down, leaving me in complete darkness.

I wrote this on my phone, trying to deal with the pain in my hands from the burns that I got from throwing my headphones.

It's safe to say I don't know what happened, and I probably never will.

Well, it's getting late, and I have work in the morning. Well, I'll be going to bed now. I don't have the energy to change or clean up the blood on my face.

Anther K, hopping off, I guess. I'll see you all some other time. :] ~ ♡
